Montana Forest Stewardship Steering Committee

Administered by the State Forester, the Committee includes the U.S. Forest Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Montana Extension Service, local government, the Soil and Water Conservation Service, consulting foresters, environmental organizations, forest products organizations, landowners, land trust organizations, conservation organizations, State Fish and Wildlife, and any other appropriate interests. 

PURPOSE:  The Committee convenes on a regular basis to provide an ongoing approach to address stewardship planning implementation concerns and the overall stewardship program coordination.

The Committee provides advice and recommendations to the State Forester in the implementation of the stewardship planning program and forest legacy program.  

The Committee also provides assistance and recommendations concerning the development, implementation, monitoring and updating of the five-year plan of the State Forest Stewardship Plan.
